Disputed fair use rationale for Image:2001 ed The International Jew by Henry Ford.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2001 ed The International Jew by Henry Ford.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr If you've written a quality article... 21:36, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain what does "there is a concern" mean, and exactly what about this low resolution sourced image is being disputed and where? Thanks. ←Humus sapiens ну? 23:17, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I intend to use the graphic image labeled "2nd century Rome gold goblet shows Jewish ritual objects.jpg" <http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:2nd_century_Rome_gold_goblet_shows_Jewish_ritual_objects.jpg> as an illustration for a forthcoming textbook on Judaism to be published commercially by Routledge. Since you are listed as the file's uploader, my editors have recommended "if you are in any doubt you could contact the person who uploaded the image." I am hereby doing so, and would appreciate it if you could confirm, or at least provide background, for the picture's public domain status and permission to reprint.

quoting a blogger

[edit]

I am aware that blogging being an unregulated force, quotes from a blog do not constitute a validation for a viewpoint or be counted as a source for anything with a factual basis. In this specific case however I am using a remarkable peice of writing, that happens to appear on a blog, to illustrate the ways that the language is and can be used. In that context I do not feel that the fact it is written by a blogger in any way diminishes its validity and the point it makes.

Futhermore the piece that I have tried to use as a quote not only perfectly illustrates the point but it is the fact that it appears on a blog written by a chassidic jew (and we all know that they are a retiring community that do not often make their views plain to outsiders) that makes it all the more relevant! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.66.110.45 (talk) 19:39, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I need your help again

[edit]

There is a user who is harassing, name-calling, and is generally being disruptive to many articles. She has been warned on numerous occasions and archives pages before you can reply to her incivility. This has finally gotten out of hand, and I would like to know what to do about this user. To find out the details, please see my talk page. I was willing to ignore her for quite some time and take her abuse. But it has ended up going too far in this case. Can you please help me, or at least show me how to go through the process of reporting users? Thank you very much.--Lan Di (talk) 23:54, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The arguments made by Lan Di have in some cases been laughed at (not by me) for being pointless and nonsense. The user is incredibly in-civil towards me by engaging in discussions which are solely to attack me such as on User Talk:Angelriver and User Talk:MiB-24. I find the user to be highly disruptive and in my opinion not familiar with the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia. The user had pushed me to the limit and I exploded in one go and only once, the user is just as to blame if not more to blame than I am.--Lucy-marie (talk) 00:11, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to directly quote some of the comments made by Lan Di "All we have to do is attack her credibility". "I can also get my admin friend involved, as he likes me, and will help us out if I ask for it". "I will get my admin friend to slap her down extremely hard". "We really need your guys help in slapping her down again". These comments seem to show a pattern that Lan DI firstly has a disliking for me and secondly is going to make personal attacks and involve administrators to attempt to have me "slapped down". These comments are highly uncivil and do not focus on anything but me as a user.--Lucy-marie (talk) 00:33, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And what about your comments to Lan Di which included calling him a "petty, ignorant, obsessed fan" as well as being uneducated and narrow minded? Civility works both ways, Lucy. You have a habit of incivility that started with me from my very first day here where you called me an "absolute wally", "stupid" and threatened to have me banned. Angelriver (talk) 00:38, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That is one individual comment and not a systematic and virtually continuous pattern. Here is not the place for Angelriver and I to discuss our differences that is for one of our individual talk pages.--Lucy-marie (talk) 00:48, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, Lucy. This is for our talk pages. Unfortunately though, you archive yours before rebuttals can be made. Angelriver (talk) 00:50, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Palestinian POV pushing

[edit]

Recently, a new User Coda Stage (talk · contribs) created a number of controversial articles and categories that are profoundly POV. Some attention and input, as well as some discussion, would be welcome regarding: Zionist hunter (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zionist hunter); Category:The Nakba (deletion discussion); Category:Israeli war crimes (deletion discussion); and his creation of Daniel Machover and contributions to Doron Almog; Sabra and Shatila massacre‎ and Qibya massacre‎. Pro-israeli and Pro-zionist POV pushing?

[edit]

You know i find extremely funny to read above such a cry for help on this topic here, while i was on the way to ask Humus sapiens why he used wikipedia as his tool for pushing what is looking like his pro-israeli and pro-zionist agenda (time to precise that i am neither an anti-israeli nor an anti-zionist)... I reviewed some of his articles creations ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Humus_sapiens/contribs ) before coming to this conclusion, by just having a look on how he reword sentences or piece of facts to reflect his POV in its initial edits, his purpose looks more than clear for anybody objective. Quoting dubious sources like palestinefacts.org from the Zionist Organization of America as if their were credible ones, while giving biased or distorted meanings to the actions or declarations of the other side of his POV, i.e. Palestinians if anybody more...

A random example: "In December 2004, he insisted that the Palestinian goal is Israel's destruction in interview to Iran's Al-Aram television station: "At this stage there will be two states. Many years from now, there will be only one... [There are] 300 million Arabs, while Israel has only the sea behind it." Khaddoumi said his platform was endorsed by the PLO in 1974. ([1])" [BTW another nice and objective source along others for an encyclopedia...] cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Farouk_Kaddoumi&diff=8987385&oldid=7480722

Now can you explain us how the quoted declaration -from a dubious source to say the least- of that guy Khaddoumi can be translated in your words into "he insisted that the Palestinian goal is Israel's destruction", all this while you are wearing your "Countering Systemic Bias" banner (sic) and are a Wikipedia administrator? ROFL. Poor Wikipedia, you used to be more than decent before being hijacked by people with an agenda and far too much spare time to propagate their biased POV... "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable", right. (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 23:43, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I happened to spot this whilse looking for another comment I left on your page almost a year ago (guess I'll check the page history to find it!) Anyway this comment looks like POV pushing. It attempts to discredit the source rather than exmaine the information (and MEMRI reference now is at least solid evidence the statements were made). That is means "he insisted that the Palestinian goal is Israel's destruction" is also clear. Looking at the account where this accusation came from, it has very few edits very spaced out. I'm not making an accusation, but I'd urge you to examine the users contribution and to draw your own conclusions if you haven't done so already. Sigh. Oboler (talk) 19:50, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Humus: My attention was drawn to the Talk:Hummus page, a dispute over your name-sake it seems, see Talk:Hummus#Hebrew/jewish/Israeli references and Talk:Hummus#RfC where some users are deploying the worst kind of blatant antisemitic and Anti-Zionist vitriol in violation of WP:HATE and WP:CIVIL, over a minor food article, yet, unbelievable. Steinberg's Religiosity

[edit]

Here is a new reference about Isaac Steinberg's Orthodox observance during his service in the early Lenin's government:

http://books.google.com/books?id=S0Ls8Z-Y89cC

(Read pp. 126-128, available in the Google preview)

It's a well known fact among the Yiddishist circles (to which I happen to belong). Steinberg's family, the former secretary of his New York office, and a number of other people can verify this information. Even the Russian poet Bunin mentioned in his memoirs "Окаянные дни" that Steinberg was religiously observant. Please don't delete my notion about Steinberg's Orthodoxy (or add it youself). The religious aspect of Steinberg's personality plays a significant role in his anti-Marxist version of socialism, close to Martin Buber's and Gustav Landauer's mystical anarchism. I believe, this fact is worth mentioning. Laplandian (talk) 14:45, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ben-yehuda.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Ben-yehuda.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:30, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ben-yehuda.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ben-yehuda.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:18, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Palestinophilia

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Palestinophilia, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Palestinophilia. Please don't place this at the very top of articles as you did with Persecution of early Christians in the Roman Empire. There is no template for the purpose you intended, because a good lead section should make the relationship clear (in this case the lead should link to persecution of Christians, as well as other parent topics, like religion in the Roman Empire (well, that one doesn't exist, but you get the idea). Jew GA Sweeps Review: On Hold

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria and I'm specifically going over all of the "Culture and Society" articles. I have reviewed Jew and believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. In reviewing the article, I have found there are multiple issues that need to be addressed, and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days for them to be fixed. I have left this message on your talk page since you have significantly edited the article (based on using this article history tool). Please consider helping address the several points that I listed on the talk page of the article, which shouldn't take too long to fix with the assistance of multiple editors. I have also left messages on the talk pages for other editors and related WikiProjects to spread the workload around some. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 07:11, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Beria timemag 1101530720 400.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Beria timemag 1101530720 400.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Revert of my redirect of Yitzhak Grossman

[edit]

Hi,

I found 2 articles about the same person. One article has a subset of the information in the second article, has a number of warnings about quality (and is frankly pretty badly written), and misspells the man's name. I redirected it to the other article.

You reverted the redirect (or at least you left me a message why the redirect was reverted).

Your message stated that maybe my edit summary was not descriptive enough. Here's what I put there: "Duplicate article. Redirected to more complete version (basically a superset of the content here)."

Here's the article that I redirected to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yitzchak_Dovid_Grossman Here's the article that I redirected: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yitzhak_Grossman

What is the appropriate action? Now we have 2 articles about the same man again. Is that a good situation?

Thanks in advance for your help. --Dfink (talk) 21:56, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Vgrossman1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:01, 26 September 2009 (UTC). Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Humus sapiens! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 314 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Criticism of Judaism. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Criticism of Judaism (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Andrei Sinyavsky.jpg

[edit]

Hi,
I assume you are busy sysopping, but I had a question about a photo you set up ages ago.

[[File:Andrei Sinyavsky.jpg]]

I'm fairly new to these photo copyright issues.

The purpose of the image is to illustrate the article, Andrei Sinyavsky. The use of the image to illustrate such article(s) is considered fair use by US law because:
There is no free equivalent of the image, that can illustrate the article the same way.
The image is used in a minimal amount of articles.
The image will only be used for encyclopedic purposes.
The use of the image will increase the reader's understanding of the article significantly. The use of the fair use image in Andrei Sinyavsky is for identification of the photograph.
The image will be only used in the article(s) abovementioned.

I would like to put this author photo here:
List of Russian language novelists

Hence, "minimal number" of articles, "increase understanding", and so on.

Can the allowable article list not be expanded to include the list of novelists?

Sincerely, Varlaam (talk) 22:43, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:1938 Interior of Berlin synagogue after Kristallnacht.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:1938 Interior of Berlin synagogue after Kristallnacht.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 15:29, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of a section of "Persecution of Christians"

[edit]

Dear sir,

I could not find your argument for the deletion of the "Later Jewish persecution of Christians" section of Persecution of Christians, done, if I am not wrong, the 29 May 2007. I can figure some reasons but I don't find them sufficient to imply a complete deletion. Besides is such an important move without rationale good practice? As I make training sessions about Wikipedia and its possible use in education, I would be very interested by your explanation or complementary information and thankful. Yours sincerely. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cercamon (talkcontribs) 14:54, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Cesare De Michelis has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced BLP. Makes no claim of notability, provides no context.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File permission problem with File:Leon Pinsker.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Leon Pinsker.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. I put up an entry on this webpage and a user is deleting it for no reason. She isn't discussing the reasons why on the discussion board but putting up useless comments about how she "likes socks". Well, the category is for the individual's religion. She is an atheist. The categories are there to guide the encyclopaedia to provide information to the public. This allows people to reference categories. Particularly relevant in politics. Among a number of things is to allow people to do searches. I found this entry because of listening to the radio and there is a religion in politics debate. I wanted to know who is an atheist in the debate and who is religious. Also Euthanasia is a big issue and as health minister it is good to know what religion she is. It only adds to the encyclopaedia not detracting from it. Look at the entries for politics around the world. Religion is a big thing in Australian politics. Incogfrig (talk) 13:41, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. תמונה של מבצע כנפי נשרים ברזולוציה גבוהה

[edit]

http://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A7%D7%95%D7%91%D7%A5:Op_Magic_Carpet_(Yemenites).jpg

אך היא ברזולוציה שאיננה מספיקה לפרסום.

האם תוכל לשלוח לי את התמונה ברזולוציה גבוהה יותר? האם תוכל לכתוב לי את מקור התמונה?

Non-free use of File:Iudaism bez prikras 63-7.gif

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Iudaism bez prikras 63-7.gif. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.

An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. A tag has been placed on Sergey Kovalev requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Bagel of Zion.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. File:Lina Stern.png needs authorship information

[edit]
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Lina Stern.png appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Humus sapiens}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:04, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Masoleum-gorky kaganovich molotov voroshilov stalin kalinin.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Masoleum-gorky kaganovich molotov voroshilov stalin kalinin.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Replaceable fair use File:Maabarah children.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Maabarah children.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 06:17, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:50, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict...please fill out my survey?

[edit]

Hello :) I am writing my MA dissertation on Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I noticed that you have contributed to those pages. My dissertation will look at the process of collaborative knowledge production on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the effect it has on bias in the articles. This will involve understanding the profiles and motivations of editors, contention/controversy and dispute resolution in the talk pages, and bias in the final article.

For more information, you can check out my meta-wiki research page or my user page, where I will be posting my findings when I am done.

I would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey before 8 August 2021.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. There are no foreseeable risks nor benefits to you associated with this project.

Thanks so much,

Your contributed article, Folkism (disambiguation).

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Folkism (disambiguation).. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Folkism (disambiguation). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Folkism (disambiguation). If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 06:35, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
